Introducing a LoL league platform inspired by old-school CPL/CAL — looking for players to help test Season 1
Hey r/leagueoflegends,
Long-time League player here, and an even longer-time fan of the old PC gaming competitive circuit — Counter-Strike CAL, CPL, the whole era. I've spent the last several months building Champions Amateur League (CAL), a structured competitive league platform for League of Legends that tries to capture that same spirit: real seasons, structured competition, completely free and just for fun.
Right now the platform runs an Open tier, with plans to expand into Main, Premier, Invite, and beyond as the community grows. It integrates directly with Riot's official Tournament API for organized match reporting, with scheduled regular seasons, standings, and playoffs.
Here's where you come in.
I'm gearing up to run a short inaugural test season — Season 1 — and I need players willing to participate and help me shake the thing down. I'm not looking for a full roster of diamond smurfs. I need people who:
- Want to play in a structured league setting outside of solo queue
- Are okay with things being a little rough around the edges — this is a test
- Are willing to give honest feedback on the rules, format, and site functionality
- Can communicate when something is broken or confusing
This isn't a money-making venture. It's a passion project, and I want to build something the community actually shapes.
