Hey folks!

I’m the developer of Palabros, and I wanted to ask something a bit more specific this time: do you find this approach useful for long-term vocabulary retention?

The idea is simple: instead of only looking up a word once and forgetting it, you can save it and let it come back to you passively through homescreen widgets, with its definition, until it starts to feel familiar.

I haven’t really seen another dictionary app do this in quite this way, and it’s one of the main reasons I built Palabros.

**A — Answer:**
Most dictionary apps are great when you need to look up a word, but they usually stop there. You search, read the definition, close the app, and often forget the word soon after.

Palabros is built around a different idea: not just finding words, but helping them stay with you over time.

You can look up a word, read official definitions, simpler explanations and examples, save it, organize it with tags, review it later, and keep seeing saved words and definitions through homescreen widgets.

**B — Better:**
The main difference is the focus on retention.

Palabros works as a normal dictionary in English and Spanish, but it also tries to create a longer-term learning cycle. If you save a word you want to remember, the app keeps bringing it back through widgets and review tools.

There is also a curated Word of the Day section. For people who don’t actively search for new vocabulary, it creates a small daily habit: you see a word, test yourself, and reveal its meaning if you don’t know it. If you save that word, it can then start appearing in your widgets too.

So the idea is not just “discover a word” or “look up a definition once.” It’s more like: discover it, understand it, save it, see it again, and eventually remember it.

**C — Cost:**
The app is free to download and use. I tried to make the free version include everything I personally would have needed when I was looking for an app like this.

Palabros Pro is available as:

* monthly subscription: $2.99
* annual subscription: $14.99 with a one-week free trial
* lifetime purchase: $39.99

If you want to try Pro first, there’s no commitment: the app includes a reminder before the subscription starts, so you have time to cancel if it’s not for you.

I’d love feedback on the core idea itself: would passive exposure through widgets help you remember words, or do you prefer more active review methods?

There are several review modes, from easier to harder, but honestly, the original idea was built around widgets: keeping words quietly visible until they start to feel familiar.

Thanks in advance!!!
