What did you do / what can you do in between?

I am still waiting for the sleep study they said it could take 4 years.... so what do I do while I wait? I spoke to them about how I am concerned and doc said yeah well nothing we can do because I cant give you medication while you are dealing with your other issues, and we cant prove that it is narcolepsy without the tests.
So... what now? I just give up my life for the next 4 yrs?
What happens when we test this, if its not narcolepsy? Im scared that I am finally advocating for part of my life and that they are going to laugh at it - I have been so sick for a few years now and I feel the docs arent taking me seriously and think im making stuff up man im just so exhausted and now I am missing out on a job opportunity I want so bad but im scared of getting it and then making an idiot out of myself - the last job I was falling asleep standing they literally brought me aside and asked if I was taking drugs it was so embarrassing - the last doc I spoke to said that to quote - which I almost started crying "you arent narcoleptic you are just not sleeping"

And then I get told go find a new doc lol like how? I just spent 4yrs to try and get this figured I cant imagine trying to swap docs rn what if they say im doc shopping too or something man
