Triggers and PTSD around sleeping
Hey I’ll try to keep this brief.
I escaped in April 2024 and had court in June 2024. Strangled, SA, etc. in April 2024.
I have done extensive therapy and I am doing significantly better. There was a long period of time I was in denial, and since coming out of that about six months after the situation, my sleep has been severely messed up. I take medication every night for sleep. Hydroxycine and prozosin. Without it I rarely sleep.
I can sleep fine next to my boyfriend even without meds but we moved to long distance two months ago and now my sleep is messed up again. I also will get triggered by noises outside my window.
I have deep fear that he will one day attack me again and if I get triggered at night about the thought I will not be able to sleep.
Does anyone have any words of encouragement and / or success stories for ptsd around sleep?
