General hygiene for the glans and foreskin

Hi all,

Super embarrassed writing this but I am 22(m) I’ve dealt with phimosis most of my life and one week ago I could finally get a full retraction of my glans!

What I found was it covered in hardened caked smegma which took a week of pretty rough cleaning to finally clean it. Now it looks all clean, however, still some redness (which is improving daily I believe, although slowly) which I think is to be expected after a week worth of removing a hardened layer of smegma from the glans.

What are the do’s and dont’s of cleaning the area. Is hot water bad for the glans? Should I not wash it everyday?

Just general tips to keeping the area healthy and clean would be greatly appreciated.
