My Dog has DKA

🧠 Behavior & Health

My dog has Dka she was diagnosed with it on the 17th of June. She is a Labrador Australian Shepherd mix that is only 6 years old and weighs around 32KG. She was admitted in the hospital the very next day. She was on the short term insulin which the doctor and nurses said she responded very well too. It brought her numbers from a 450 Blood sugar level to around a 150 and her ketones from a 4-5 to a 1 ish. But the main problem is that she isn’t eating at all or she is eating very little. The doctors said she would eat in the morning and not at night or vice-versa. So they would take her off the drip to give her the long term and her levels would go up again. They finally got the numbers back down by putting her back on the short term and to send her home. She’s home now and acting very tired(which is understandable considering she didn’t get that much sleep while she was getting treatment) but she is also not eating. We tried to give her favorite foods but she wouldn’t take them. My family is stressed out because we are running out of ideas. Do you guys either dogs with DKA have any ideas that may help? If so please let me know.
