MS Geography job prospects

Hello! Looking to shift careers (from writing, also did uni teaching), and thought of the course as it is also an interest of mine and I heard there's some demand here. I'm planning to learn GIS (so focusing on physical geography) and get certified. To those who have finished, where do you work now? How was the degree in terms of course load? And is it true that there is a demand in GIS? How is the competition? Thanks!
