SIBO caused by low stomach acid/poor gut motility
I’ve been prescribed Rifaximin for my SIBO which I’m confident is caused by my low stomach acid and gut motility issues.
I’m now taking Artichoke and Ginger extract before bed which has definitely helped me. So now I’m wondering how can I improve my low stomach acid?
I also have histamine intolerance linked to the SIBO which affects my sleep (I’m tired but wired, wake up alert at 4am, etc). The poor sleep I believe is the primary cause of my low stomach acid and I’ve notice my stomach acid is much worse in the mornings.
I’ve tried Betaine HCL which improves the acid but then causes severe gut pain after a couple days.
Will the low stomach acid improve on its own once I’ve finished the course of Rifaximin given the histamine/SIBO is causing my sleep issues and affecting my vagus nerve and subsequently causing low stomach acid? Or what else can I try other than HCL to increase my stomach acid?
I’m pretty stress free and a happy person otherwise!
