I’ve been shipping indie apps on the side for a while, and my latest one is probably the most absurdly niche idea I’ve built so far:
**A fiber intake tracker — but turned into a social game.**
Most calorie, macro, or nutrition apps feel lonely. You log meals by yourself, look at charts by yourself, and eventually stop caring.
So I wanted to make fiber tracking feel more like a daily challenge with friends.
The idea is simple:
You join a **crew**, track your daily fiber intake, try to hit your personal goal, and compete on a shared leaderboard that **resets every night**.
Instead of “log your food alone,” it becomes:
“Can I beat my friends today?”
**Features**
**Personal fiber goal** calculated from height, weight, age, and sex
**AI photo analysis** — snap a photo of your meal and get an instant fiber estimate
**Barcode scanning** for packaged foods using Open Food Facts + USDA data
**Streaks and crew reminders** to keep people coming back
**Nightly-reset leaderboard** to create a daily competitive loop
**Stack**
Built with **React Native CLI**, using **OpenAI** for food photo analysis, **Open Food Facts + USDA** for nutrition data, and **RevenueCat** for subscriptions.
I shipped it to the App Store with support for **11 languages**.
It’s definitely a weird niche, but that’s what makes it fun. I’m curious to see whether “gut health + social competition” can actually become a sticky daily habit.

I built a social fiber-tracking app where you compete with friends on a leaderboard that resets every night
