About the physical pain and the mental consequences

These books do a great job showing the mental impact of all the shit that the crawlers go on, based on the stress, the killings, the babies, their families and so on.

But I feel like it is missing the impact of the physical pain. Even if they can heal, shit still hurts. And hurts a lot.

Each time they go out of the saferoom they face hits, slashes, burns, broken bones, damaged organs, curses and debuffs that hurt at several levels and, in general, all possible flavours of pain. And I'm not sure how easy would be for the crawlers to go out there and keep facing all that pain.

In the books, people break for mental traumas, but I feel like the physical traumas would be a much more important thing.
