BreakUp in good terms?
I met my ex-girlfriend in December last year through our local music club.
We started dating in January, and everything was amazing until around May. We never argued, and we were both really happy.
Around May, things got harder because of vacation and school trip. We had much less time for each other. During that time, she also started worrying a lot about the future and felt very uncertain about herself. We talked everything through, and I thought we had worked it out.
Then she got sick, which meant we had even less time together. We barely texted, didn’t really call anymore, and i felt like we were slowly drifting apart because of everything going on.
Last Saturday, we met and broke up. She said she needs time for herself and wants to figure herself out. It wasn’t a toxic breakup… we stayed respectful, and before we said goodbye, she asked me if I would be willing to talk again someday in the future. I said yes.
Since then, we’ve had no contact at all.
I’m struggling because part of me wants to give her the space she asked for, but another part of me is afraid that complete silence will just make us drift apart even more.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Should I keep no contact and wait for her to reach out, or is there a point where I should check in with her?
I’d really appreciate any advice or similar experiences.
