How do I do meditation for a long time?
We do something consistently only when it's a source of fun and joy. So if you like to be consistent in meditation for long, then the best way would be to make meditation fun.
This is Osho's approach too. In his meditation methods, he has made playfulness a basic attitude in doing any meditation.
He has given many meditation techniques. And playfulness is a fundamental quality is all the techniques.
Osho says,
"Millions of people miss meditation because meditation has taken on a wrong connotation. It looks very serious, looks gloomy, has something of the church in it, looks as if it is only for people who are dead, or almost dead, who are gloomy, serious, have long faces, who have lost festivity, fun, playfulness, celebration. These are the qualities of meditation.
"A really meditative person is playful; life is fun for him, life is a leela, a play.
"He enjoys it tremendously. He is not serious. He is relaxed."

So how to meditate for a long time? We make it a celebration.
Dance, laugh, and meditate. A child can play all day and never ask, “How much longer?” Why? Because there is no goal. The play itself is enough.
When meditation becomes like that, this question will disappear.
