What to use?

I just bought two pairs of boxing gloves.
One pair being 16 Oz and another being 12 Oz.
I’ve seen this question being asked a lot but I wanted to ask again because I forgot😭 I know that you should use different weight gloves for different reasons like sparring or training. But does it really matter and affect that much?
