2nd Year Specialization Reconsideration Form

Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice from anyone familiar with UBC Engineering placement appeals.

I was placed in IGEN, but I want to appeal for CPEN. I spoke with EAS, and it sounds like the appeal needs to be based on new information/extenuating circumstances, not just preference.

My situation is that I originally did not include CPEN because I thought ELEC fit my interests better. My family had encouraged me to pursue CPEN for long-term career/financial planning, but I wanted to make an independent choice. After further reflection and recent experience with embedded software, I now genuinely believe CPEN better fits my background and goals.

I also have medical documentation related to ADHD/health-related circumstances that affected my academic performance and decision-making during the placement period.

For people who have gone through this: does the appeal really need to focus mainly on documented extenuating circumstances, or can family/financial planning and clearer program fit also help? What kind of supporting documentation was useful?
