is it normal for a cat to lose interest in toys this quickly?

i'll buy or bring out a toy and my cat acts obsessed with it for maybe a day or two. after that it's like it doesn't exist anymore. i've rotated toys and tried different types but the same thing keeps happening. do most cats get bored this fast or am i missing something?
