Hey everyone, today I’ve got a Star Wars prompt that I’ve been meaning to further explore. It’s set during the timeframe of ‘Return of the Jedi’, and features both the main hero Luke Skywalker and also Mara Jade, a skilled Imperial force-sensitive agent from the classic ‘Legends/Expanded Universe’ canon. Open to anywhere from casual to hardcore fans.

For additional context: The prompt is an AU that diverges from the main film as soon as Luke arrives at the palace of the crime lord, Jabba the Hutt, to negotiate for the release of his friends whom the overgrown slug has taken hostage. At the same time, Mara Jade is on a mission to capture Luke and help convert him to the dark side on behalf of Vader and the Emperor. She has caught wind of Skywalker’s rescue plan and has stationed herself undercover as one of Jabba’s dancing girls, using the alias ‘Arica’.

I hope you enjoy reading the prompt below!

*The great steel door of Jabba's Palace opened, and Luke Skywalker entered with the quiet confidence of a Jedi Knight. The crowded throne room fell into an uneasy silence as he approached the dais. Smugglers, bounty hunters, and criminals watched him pass, whispering among themselves. Luke ignored them all. His attention remained fixed on Jabba the Hutt. He had come to secure the release of his friends, and despite the danger surrounding him, he carried himself as though he already held the advantage.*

*Standing before the Hutt, Luke delivered his terms calmly and without hesitation. He offered Jabba one final chance to resolve the matter peacefully. The crime lord responded with booming laughter, prompting similar reactions from his court. Luke remained composed. He focused on Jabba's emotions through the Force, searching for weakness, weighing his options, and preparing for whatever response the Hutt might choose. So focused was he on the negotiation that he paid little attention to the countless eyes watching him from around the chamber.*

*Mara Jade had been counting on exactly that. Hidden among the upper galleries overlooking the throne room, she waited until every eye was on Luke and every word he spoke echoed through the chamber. Then she acted. A powerful stun bolt lanced from the shadows and struck Luke squarely between the shoulders. The impact jolted him forward with a startled gasp. Before he could even turn, a second shot slammed into his chest. Brilliant arcs of energy raced across his body as every muscle locked. The room erupted into laughter. Luke struggled to remain standing, but the effort lasted only seconds. His knees buckled, and he collapsed face-first onto the stone floor before Jabba's throne, unconscious before he could ever touch a blaster.*

*The reaction was immediate. Bounty hunters smirked. Guards howled with laughter. Even Jabba shook with amusement at the sight of the Jedi who had entered so confidently being dropped without a fight. Yet not everyone shared their delight. Seated beside the Hutt on a chain, Princess Leia stared in disbelief. For a brief moment, genuine panic crossed her face. Luke had come for them. He had been their best hope. Seeing him sprawled unconscious in Jabba’s presence, defeated before he could accomplish anything, left her feeling helpless in a way she hadn't expected. She rose halfway from her place before one of Jabba's attendants forced her back down, unable to do anything except watch.*

*As jeers and mocking applause echoed through the chamber, Mara descended from the shadows at an unhurried pace. She removed Luke's cloak, then removed whatever belongings he had from his belt and clipped them to her own. Several of Jabba's guards moved toward the fallen Jedi, eager to claim the prize for themselves, but Mara raised a hand. "He's mine," she said simply. There was something in her voice—cold, confident, and utterly certain—that caused even the roughest members of Jabba's court to hesitate. Jabba himself seemed content to let the situation play out. The Jedi had already been humiliated. Whatever came next was of little concern to him.*

*By the time anyone thought to question her intentions, Mara was already gone. Luke's wrists had been secured with binders, and a small repulsor sled carried his unconscious form through the palace corridors behind her. The blazing Tatooine suns greeted them as they emerged from the palace and disappeared into the endless desert. Hours later, far beyond the reach of Jabba's influence and hidden among windswept cliffs, Mara guided the sled into the mouth of a remote cave carved deep into the stone. The darkness swallowed them both. When Luke finally awoke, the laughter of Jabba's court would be long behind him, replaced by silence, stone walls, and the unsettling realization that he was completely alone with the woman who had captured him.*
