I used to rely heavily on Gems for topical deep dives—or at least I did, before the recent disastrous updates. Tonight, I decided to give it another shot, and I deeply regret it. It just kept spitting out generic research plans despite my numerous attempts to steer it back on track. After a few iterations, Gemini finally admitted to an internal error and asked me to just paste the original instructions. Like, what is even the point of creating a custom Gem then?!

Oh, Gemini named this session as "Threatening AI for Specific Output“. Really?
