And the Man Shaved On: And Other Remaining Questions Following the Legislature's Investigation Report
It's now been one week since the Texas legislature's full Investigative Report into the flooding at Camp Mystic was released. While the report was very difficult reading given the subject matter, it was also very well done. However, I still have some unanswered questions, and I expect many of y'all do too- if so here's the place to post &/ or answer them as appropriate.
I'll go first:
Exactly when did Richard Jr. get that text from his wife about the flood she'd just survived UPSTREAM of him? From facebook posts, it's been reported his wife was near the River Inn when this occured, and we know the first 911 call came from River Inn a little after 0250 that morning.
Did Investigator Garrett mention anything in this regard when she spoke publicly about her findings? To me, Ms.Garrett seemed at pains to say that the neighbor's warning call that the Big Three rec'd at 0330 am was too late to have made a difference had the Big Three acted on it. Did I miss something similiar w/ regard to the UPSTREAM FLOOD WARNING that Richard Jr received? If not, such an ommission speaks on its own.
Similarly, the report specifically lists the time of the UPSTREAM FLOOD WARNING call received by the Big Three. But no such time is provided for the UPSTREAM FLOOD WARNING TEXT received by Richard Junior that morning. Again the juxtaposition is jarring.
Instead, we're left to work our way backwards through inferences based on the details the report does provide. So here goes:
After receiving the text from his wife alerting him to the UPSTREAM FLOODING she'd just survived, Richard Junior got a lot done:
Tried to go back to sleep & finds that he just can't,, so at some point he gets up, looks thru blinds & sees lights at the office & groundskeepers, nothing he's alarmed by, as he goes ahead & takes a shower, shaves his face, and tries to get some work done, only to discover the internet's out- huh? Checks watch- sees life threatening flash flood warnings, but he's not concerned- it's supposed to stop raining by 415am after all.... Then he sees the water seeping in through the door. And then he's concerned.
Now I trace that timeline backwards...and it starts to finally start to make some degree of sense the way this family has consistently, for months & months, treated Richard's Junior's whereabouts as though he's the damn Lindbergh baby.
Curious to know the questions, answers &/ or theories do y'all have remaining here?
