Mowing Sports Fields

I was thinking about this and came to the conclusion that a professional mower would use reels with a grass catcher.

You could also use a rotary mower with a grass catcher, but I think reels would give a finer cut.

I suspect trying to use the current crop of residential mowers might not be wise. The little grass bits nicked off might turn into a slippery lubricant - especially if wet. And you would need several mowers to do the job. You can't have a mower out there continuously or you wouldn't have time to use the field for its purpose.
