ELI5 Living on/near shore with the tides. How and what does it affect you, monthly, daily, hourly?
I’ve spent my whole 45 years living in the US Midwest, over a thousand miles from either coast. I’ve visited both, but only for a few days at a time on business, so rarely had time to explore.
I understand the concept, but want to know day to day stuff. Full moon vs new moon, high/low tide, are there really two high AND low tides every day? Winter vs summer and/or seasonal?
Tell me everything you can, share experiences, science stuff would be great, but please stay in the spirit of ELI5! I am mainly looking for how general people observe this stuff as they experience/witness it regularly.
