Could EV bus leasing have a greater development impact than private EV adoption in India?
Private EVs are cool and all, but they don’t solve all the issues around traffic and pollution. There’s still way too many vehicles on the road. But with electric buses entering the picture, I think things could start changing quite a lot.
There’s companies that lease EV bus fleets to corporates, and my own office is currently discussing adoption. And honestly, one bus trip can remove like 40 cars off the road. That would actually make a difference.
I know two sustainable EV companies, Drivn and Vertelo, but we might get more if this industry grows. And considering how major the differences they can make can be, both environmentally and for company PR, I think more fleets will soon be experimenting with leased buses and adopting them soon.
The impact of this would be much more visible at city level than just private EVs.
