Purity Ring had collaborated with fan volunteers to distribute respirators to their audiences through-out their tour, and both members of the duo wore masks while performing
At the beginning of the tour they looked for volunteers, and I can say having gone to one of their concerts that they do hand them out!

MMJ gives this absolutely lovely speech at the beginning of a cover she sings, I found it on Youtube too so I'll add it here with a transcript and timestamp.

[starting 9:04] I'm gonna play a cover, a little old tune by a good old comrade named Phil Ochs -- yes some of us know who that is! Every night is like one, maybe three people, but I choose them well you know.
So, I like to play this song because it is, sort of about, different -- a few of the many different mountains of oppression that we still [tackle/deal with?] as we did when Phil Ochs lived, in the 60s I think?
And, all oppression is related, and so, I'd like to say that, this song is why I wear a mask.
Thank you, there are so many masks today and mask chains and beautiful faces, it's so nice to see all of you like this. Thank you --- Oh, my heart is warm! [ends 10:08]
In the concert I went to before singing the cover she talked about how all our struggles are interconnected, and how wearing a mask is an act of community care. She thanked us for taking part in this act of community care with her.
I didn't get to film the speech so I was looking for it, so I'm happy I got to find a version of it on youtube. I just thought it was so lovely, I wanted to share it in some way somewhere!
