[M4F] People-watching during a heatwave
Anyone who's lived in, or even just visited, somewhere like the UK or Ireland during an extreme heatwave, knows how horrible it is. It's so stuffy, humid, the buildings aren't made to deal with such heat, public transport lacks proper air conditioning - to quote the... famous? Infamous? Regardless... To quote Gemma Collins, 'I’m not ashamed to admit it it’s hell in there it’s horror you have to be a certain type of person to survive'.
But there are two good aspects of it, I suppose. Despite the humidity, the near suffocating heat, people are happier. There's more smiles, more laughter, people are in better moods, some jobs might even let you finish early and nip out to enjoy a pint with your friends. Imagine!
But then there's the much more important aspect of it all. The clothing. Or in some cases, the lack of it. Women living on these islands don't get much encouragement from the weather to dress the way they do during the heatwaves. Whether that's the sun-dresses, the skirts, the denim shorts, the tanktops, the crop tops, the tube tops, the tight tees with no bras, short or open shirts, halter-neck dresses, off-the shoulder tops, v-necks... you get the point.
And what a shame it would be to not appreciate women blessing us with these outfits. Whether they're taller, shorter, slimmer, thicker - they're all damn beautiful, and it should be considered a damn joyous occasion when we can appreciate this.
And that's what I do, today. I exit work at 5PM on the dot. I text my partner, telling her I'll be home a bit later - I'm meeting a friend for a pint, I say. It's a half-truth. I am going for a pint - but I'm going alone. I walk through the city, enjoying the heat, enjoying the views, until I find a nice seat at a table, outside a pub. I walk in to order a quick pint, and then bring it out front, taking my seat at the small round table.
And then, I just sit. I sit, enjoying the intensity of the sun on my face, my arms, enjoying how crisp and refreshing the pint is - and most importantly, admiring the many gorgeous women who are walking by, by themselves, with their partners, their friends - looking absolutely gorgeous, and showing off so much. And it's all thanks to this heat-wave.
But who are you? Are you one of these women passing by, either flattered or annoyed by my obvious staring? Are you someone else at the bar who's spotted what I'm up to, amused by it, or rather, disgusted? There's so much fun to be had in a heatwave.
