No saved letters or pages since restarting?

So like many of you I had some weird glitches with the update. My game crashed out in the mines & blocked me from progressing and so I decided to start completely over with my knowledge of the game so far (about 80 hours in so not too horrible). I also reported the crash issue.

I noticed that the letters I get are no longer saved and re-readable so that section is completely empty. I've made it through my first Spring and I also haven't found any torn pages yet. I can't remember when I first started seeing them in my first game.

I know there was a note about letters in the update summary but there doesn't seem to be an option to save them when I get the mail either.

Am I just missing something here? Shouldn't I have also found some torn pages by now?
