Getting ready for my alpine objectives, i tested the setup at home in arguably perfect conditions: no rain, cold, or sleet; no wind; lots of clean dry space. This is the 10°F goose down quilt and full bed setup. Here are my setup times, along with notes. I am 5'9" (175cm) and i have plenty of room in my med/reg size.

Note on "fluffing" the inflator bag, and "resistance." After attaching the bag to the bed or the pillow, i reach my hand into the base, spread my fingers and do my best to expand the bag's total volume before folding it down and pushing the air mass into the bed or pillow. I can do this slower and fuller, or faster and sort of good-enough. "Resistance" from the inflator bag into the bed happens as the target gets closer to firm. The bed (or pillow) volume begins to match the inflator's pressure, and so getting more air into the target (bed or pillow) is slower. The last few bag-fulls take more time. This is normal.

Note on unpack: I started the timer with the Zenbivy fully in its compressed out-of-the-backpack condition, next to me. I stopped the timer without urgency after the sleep system would be ready for me to crawl into.

1. A casual, perfect setup, making sure the inflater bag was fluffed out before each fill. 19 bag-fulls to bed resistance; 22 bags until full at my density preference (mostly-firm). **6:50 from packed to desired firmness.** Pillow: 1.5 bags for the casual.

**Combined bed and pillow: 7:45; time to quilt fully attached: 10:46**

2. A slightly speedier setup, with the inflator bag just half-fluffed out before each fill. 20 bag fulls to first bed resistance; 26 bags to desired firmness. **5:58 from unpack to full.** Pillow: 2 bags for the speedier mode.

**Combined bed and pillow and quilt fully attached: 8:42**

3. In a tent: I then repeated this inside a 3-person tent, and unsurprisingly it took a minute or so longer. Moral: if it's dry and comfy outside, inflate outside and then chuck it into your tent. If outside is wet, windy, or buggy, then setting this up inside is just fine but slower owing to the cramped conditions. If you add a person to the tent setup, then definitely add time and a healthy dose of humor and joy.

Early takeaways: The system is straightforward and i look forward to using it. Coming from the classic mummy bag setup, setup took about the same amount of time (a little longer, perhaps), and does feel roomier in every respect. Compression for my pack is equivalent to my previous mummy+pad combo; but the Zenbivy compression bag is just *so much better* and fancier (one-way air vent) than a strapped compression bag.

The quilt is soft and cozy; the sheet-pillow-quilt linkages are clean and intuitive (color matching!), and stay together nicely. I look forward to snuggling into this after a big alpine day. I'll post how it goes over the next weeks.

Weight feels equivalent to my previous setup. Obviously i don't care that much about ultralight, and it's ridiculously light compared to the rope gear i have to haul at the same time.
