Rough skin interesting interaction in singles

So I just played a singles match and it was down to my opponents Garchomp versus my 3 Pokemon. I switched out my meowscarada to reset scarf and let the opponent kill my other two Pokemon before switching Meow back in (stupid play on my part, I should’ve swapped back after the first knockout).
Meow comes back in at low hp and knocks out garchomp on the second hit of triple axel. Then Meow gets knocked out by rough skin damage.
I expected the match to end in a draw, since both our last Pokemon got knocked out, but it gave me the victory.
Is it always a victory like that even when your last Pokemon gets knocked out by recoil damage, or did I get lucky and win a coin flip or something?
