Pool Ionizers

Curious on people’s thoughts on adding a pool ionizer. I’m thinking either an in-line or solar, it would be nice to lessen the consumption of chlorine. However, what drawbacks should I be aware of?

Pool details: 15,000 gallon chlorine fiberglass pool with 40x16 rectangular shape with a square hot tub in the corner. All connected to the same heat pump and filter system.
