I’m building an AI feed bot and finally added telemetry

Small build-in-public update.

I’m working on a Telegram AI feed bot, and it’s slowly getting better.

This week I added:

  • telemetry tracking
  • freshness-based post ranking
  • a basic AI filtering layer
  • an early recommendation layer

Nothing too fancy yet.

The recommender is still pretty simple, but I think that’s the right stage for the product. I don’t want to jump into complex ML before the basics are working.

Right now my plan is:

  1. Add a few hundred more Telegram channels
  2. Let the bot collect more diverse posts
  3. Ask users to interact with the feed
  4. Use that behavior data to improve recommendations
  5. Only then start running ads and scaling

The biggest thing I’m learning is that a recommender system is not really about the model at the beginning.

It’s about signals.

What did users like?
What did they save?
What did they dislike?
What did they ignore?
Which posts looked relevant but didn’t work?

Without that data, “AI recommendations” are mostly just guesses.

So for now I’m focusing on building the base: content collection, filtering, ranking, telemetry, and feedback loops.

Then I’ll make it smarter step by step.
