Roads in Greenville SC vs Raleigh-Durham area

Currently looking at moving to both places. Been doing research via Strava and Google Earth on the roads in each area. Typically ride solo and prioritize access to farm/back roads, or roads with wider shoulders. Any experience-based insight?

Also open to suggestions. Was only looking at the triangle area but people keep telling me to consider Greenville because it’s a mecca” lol. I’m in my late twenties want to be somewhere with a solid population but close enough to good roads
