Shy dog

started a sit today and the pup is acting differently since mom and dad aren’t around, and I get that. For context she is a 2 year old pitty they rescued in September. the house I’m watching her in they just moved to a couple months ago. So on top of being a shy rescue the poor girl is in a new home. Luckily, she loves the other dog and cuddles with him and will follow him around.

She was more curious about me when mom and dad were here but now that it’s just me she’s terrified. I’m quietly working on my laptop and giving her space as to not startle her and tossing treats here and there. my biggest concern is how I’m going to walk this big baby I can’t even get near. Luckily they have a fenced in yard but she’s crated when left alone and coercing a shy dog into their crate does not sound fun to me lol. Hopefully she warms up to me over the weekend, but curious how they expected me to walk her. Just wanted to vent, I was so excited to watch these two land hippos and one wants nothing to do with me 😭
