ghost or remain friends?
i (26F) met this guy (26M) on hinge. in the beginning, the conversations started out great in the beginning, getting to know each other and messaging everyday. he mentioned how he wanted to start off slow (being friends)since he got out of a relationship. he told me that because other girls have been upset at him because of that. i was like okay we can just start off by being friends.
we then found out that we live in two different states that is about 1 hour and 30 min apart ishh. (the whole distance thing was my fault, i totally forgot to put the deal breaker on the distance part on hinge). i told him if he wanted to break it off this talking thing he could, he said he can make the distance work given his job so i was like okay cool.
we’re currently using instagram to message each other and im noticing he has a certain type which are asian girls. i try to not let it bug me but its almost every single thing he likes. he then starts calling me bro or dude. i once even posted a nice selfie (i think) and he commented saying “thirst trap”. he rarely compliments me and he begins to now take hours to respond. i will message in the morning and he waits until 9 o clock at night sometimes or just duration about 6-8 hours later.
then he tells me yesterday how on monday he was in my city for work and he never mentioned anything to me. now do i expect him to just drop everything and hang with me? no. but it would’ve been nice if he said “hey im gonna be in your city, we can’t hang cause of work but would’ve been nice to see you” or SOMETHING.
it’s my fault for starting to like him given he said he wants to be friends first but it’s been a month and i thought there would be some type of indication be likes me. i dont know what to do, i dont know if i should tell him like we dont have to continue this or just match his energy back and take a while to respond and see if it just fizzles out. help.
it’s embarrassing for me since we haven’t even gone on a date and i’m clearly just being way too attached and dramatic.
