Hey, Is calling women a "female" offensive now?

I had a post a few hours back where I referenced women as females twice... Although I used women term too .

A comment said... "Females? Get Outta here"

I just wanted to know is calling women a female offensive these days... Sorry not a genz so idk what's the new rule now??

Would be great help if someone explain it to me
