All Roads...
lead to the same door. The door is not hidden but very few can see it. To see the door is to understand it cannot be forced open. For whom the door opens, remains the choice of those behind it and no one else. To ask for the door to be opened requires the absence of ego. You found the door only because you have the ability to see without preconception, you stand outside the door waiting because you are humble, you ask for the door to be opened only because it is your nature to seek knowledge for its own sake. You sit and wait as if the waiting is just another part of knowing.
Days and weeks go by as you wait, people who cannot see the door pass you by until they begin to question your presence, "Why are you sitting here?" but you say nothing because there is no point in telling them that you're waiting for the door they can't see, to open. Soon after, many people passing by become angry at your presence but because you do not react to them, their anger soon turns to ambivalence. After ambivalence comes denial and soon after that, the people passing by don't even see you, you have become as invisible to them as the door.
You wait but now you watch the people passing by, the people who cannot see you waiting and you begin to understand why they cannot see you, it is not their nature to seek knowledge for its own sake, to those people, knowledge has a different definition and if it does not benefit them directly, they dismiss it entirely. Blinded by self interest, the truth must be denied in order to maintain their agenda and their ego.
As you watched those who pass you by without seeing you, at first confused by their blindness then curious, you begin to understand that they are afraid to see the truth because if they do see it, it will destroy the reality they've created to justify their self interest, material or psychological, their agenda is simple, take from the world and take from every other life as if accumulation is success.
Now you truly see the tragedy of those who cannot see you and tears fill your eyes, you have come so far, waited so long and in the process your ego has become smaller and smaller. It occurs to you that perhaps the door has not been opened because you are unworthy. You stand, face the door and say the words as if someone might hear them, "I'm sorry, I'll go now". As you turn to leave a voice comes from behind the door and asks "Who are you?" and you consider your answer carefully before you reply "Nobody". "What do you want?" the voice asks and you hear your own voice answering "I don't want anything".
The door opens.
