Be pro-player in the cba discussion

followed this as much as anybody. in way past years the owners were the only one with media access which is why the whole “he’s making how much to play a kids game, while me as a fan makes what?”is so prevalent. I get the argument, I do. let’s move past that and just see what the owners have asked for.

  1. salary cap

i get it. controlled costs. spending is reigned in. Just realize this is a MASSIVE ask from the owners. it’s similar to asking your parents for the N64 at Christmas instead of a bunch or $10 toys. borderline unreasonable to ask but maybe it gets through. this requires the owners to give up years of control to the players. doesn’t seem like MLBPA is interested but perhaps in the right circumstances it gets through.

  1. max contract length: now the owners are asking for 18 video games at full MSRP with their N64

  2. max dollars per year: now they want the full color of the rainbow for remotes so they can match their outfit that day

this isn’t the NFL with the worst union there is. it’s not MLBPA’s fault they stick together better. the owners are asking for the world and thinking they can use public sentiment that likes a cap against the players. these are the same owners who agreed to a deal in Covid and then backed out in bad faith.

don’t be dumb. the billionaires are used to getting what they want. In general baseball players started from a normal circumstance and built to an awesome life that provides one real chance at a pay day if they are part of the elite of the MLB. Owners like Nutting and Fisher who wanna cash their checks and not spend money don’t deserve to be treated as reasonable in what they’re asking for.
