How do these song lyrics sound?

Hello!

I’m trying to write a singable (as opposed to literal) version of the chorus of “Gens du pays”, a popular song in Québec.

For reference this is the French original:

Gens du pays, c’est votre tour (people of the country, it’s your turn)
De vous laisser parler d’amour (To let yourselves talk about love)

This is what I have so far:

עם של ארצי היקרה,
לכו לדבר על אהבה

Does the Hebrew make grammatical sense? I’m down for any suggestions to improve it, as long as (1) the two lines rhyme, (2) the meter stays roughly the same (about 8 syllables per line - I know my second line goes over a bit)
