Front sway bar end link question

2010 grand caravan se. Front end clunk driving on uneven ground. I laid on the ground with my foot in the wheel well and rocked the van back and forth while holding the end link. The clunk was from those ball joints. I like to watch YouTube to get an idea of what's involved and watch people jack cars up on grass and wait for the medical examiner. More than a couple of them remarked that you want to jack the knuckle up to a normal loaded state before torquing the nuts down. I get the concept for other suspension parts, but on a double ball joint that is bolted to the sway bar and the strut? I replaced both links and the noise is gone. I've owned 4 Dodge Caravans and they all clunk from either sway bar bushings or end links.
