Annual Raise / Promotion Raise timing resulting in a lower raise
Hi all,
Unsure if this is the correct sub to discuss this but here is the situation.
Prior to recent raises I was making $56.04/hour
I applied for and received a promotion that comes with a 5% raise
Before that 5% raise went into effect, everyone across the board received an annual 3% raise. That officially went into effect and brought me to $57.71/hour
Today I verbally confirmed my new position with HR and they stated my new wage for this position would be $58.83. I realized that this was based off of my former wage of $56.04 and not factoring in the recent 3% raise.
As a result of poor timing with these raises, instead of +8% from $56.04, I basically am only getting +5%. I should be making $60.59/hour
I called back to discuss this with HR but she was out of the office. Just curious to have some input on if this is something that will be easily corrected or am I basically screwed out of 3% and multiple thousands annually all due to poor timing?
I plan to pursue this further because I don’t intend to leave this money on the table, just wanted to get a little insight. Thanks!
