How can i overcome my fear of failure?
I know that this question has been asked before on here, but i do feel like my situation is a bit different? Maybe it isn’t but anyway, I’m not scared of failing while trying new things, i actually start lots of hobbies and “fail” to do them well and im completely okay with that kind of failure.
The fear i’m talking about is a genuine fear of failure at life ? If that makes sense. I’m currently a senior and awaiting college decision + scholarship (which without i wouldn’t be able to go to my dream university) and the results from an exam i studied MONTHS for. Besides the fact i want to do good and get the scholarship so bad, I’m terrified to disappoint my parents and myself in a way, i was so scared of failing to the point I procrastinated applying so much and hardly caught the deadline of applying to the universities, i even missed the deadline for one of the unis, i was so scared I couldn’t answer my uni advisor for a month. I was scared it was gonna be bad news.
As you can see, my fear of failure is holding me back so much. I’m so restless awaiting the university letters and exam result, i wanna make peace with the fact that things might not work out, that i might have to try again and most importantly i wanna be okay with the fact my parents might be disappointed.
Any response is welcome! I know that a lot of people here might have been or are in a similar situation and i would love to hear how others might’ve dealt with it.
* Also english isn’t my first language so i apologize for any mistakes(:
