Why are there so many Monster parents, but only 7 children?

Also, some of those monsters look too old and too young to have kids the age of the bald ashy kids? Evil grandma from S1E1 had an 8-10 year old?

Also², how were the kids "sacrificed? We're they permed to death? Is alopecia fatal? Dehydration?
