Bombed my labcorp interview

Job Hunt

looking for some perspective.

I have about 6 months of experience in a plasma center, where we mainly drew 1–2 tube types (blood typing and protein samples). Because of that, I don’t have much exposure to the full range of tube additives, tests, or clinical order of draw yet. I know order of draw, but if you throw questions like “ which one is sat/ cbc” I can’t answer. My strength is hands-on experience with difficult veins, scar tissue, and high-volume draws.

I’ve been in the process with Labcorp for over a month due to repeated scheduling issues with automated interview systems and miscommunication between scheduling and hiring managers. After multiple delays and reschedules, I finally had a same-day FaceTime interview today.

The behavioral portion went well—I spoke about my plasma experience, difficult sticks, and patient care. However, I struggled during the technical questions, especially when asked to “walk through a draw” with multiple tube types. I understand general order of draw, but I got nervous and couldn’t confidently answer tube additives or specific tube/test associations (like SST). That’s exactly the area I’m trying to transition into and improve.I feel like I totally blew the interview

Now I feel like I may have hurt my chances and I’m second-guessing myself as a phlebotomist. I’m not sure how this would typically be viewed or if this is expected
