Is favoritism really a problem at the youth level and parents thinking that they invested so much into their child that they deserve playing time? I don't get this kind of thinking.

I ask because in my area there's a controversy going on about a hs coach getting fired suddenly. He's been there for 25 years and he was just let go without an explanation. Apparently it was about playing time and parent complaint. I guess they had a history of playing favorites over talent.

I don't know if they feel the pressure to please parents that invested tones of money or what. I just have a problem with parents thinking just because they invested so much that they're guaranteed a spot. Like your son is likely not going to even sniff the college level. I don't know if they're that delusional or think they're wasting money on their child if they don't play. I just want some clarity.
