GT Tube-Post Colectemy

Hi, all so my dad 75 is post surgery and on day 4 they started him with soft foods but since last night his been vomiting. It appears he has a lleus or gas’s bubbles. They took an x-ray and not have GT to decompress any pressure the vomiting. Is this common post surgery and how long will he have this for ? Gah I’m taken back as I thought things were progressing for the good not worse. Any, education, or personal experiences is much appreciated. Tx
