How could I get a conversation going?

There’s this girl that I met at school that I find pretty. We go to the same church and I’ve talked to her only if I really had a reason. She’s asked me to go eat with her and her friends once and invited me to a Bible study she hosts afterschool. I don’t know what she quite thinks of me because we don’t talk enough for me to consider her a friend but I just want to know how to start a conversation without needing something or making small talk?
