Can someone try to find this old film that i dont remember the exactly name?

I'm 19 now and I watched this movie many times in a DVD when I was around 6 to 7 years old, so the movie is probably from the late 1990s or early 2000s.

Here's everything I remember:

- The movie starts with two police officers driving somewhere in the United States.
- One of them notices something moving in tall grass beside the road and wants to go back.
- The other officer says it could just be a mirage or something similar.
- Then the movie cuts to a white house.
- There is a very creepy black skeleton-like creature. I remember it looking like CGI, and as a kid it looked very realistic.
- I vaguely remember a scene where the creature drinks coffee (or another dark liquid), and you can actually see the liquid passing through its body.
- I also remember toys in the movie, especially a toy train that goes into a very small hole or tunnel.

I'm not 100% sure if all off these memories belong to the same movie because I was very young, but I'm almost certain about the opening with the police officers and the black skeleton-like creature.

Does anyone know what movie this could be?
