What happens to U.S. credit card and loan debt if I move back to my home country?
Hi everyone,
I’ve been living in the U.S. as an immigrant my brother and sister are also in usa but different states and they didn’t involve in any of my debts . I currently have multiple credit cards and loans with different banks.
Due to personal reasons, I’m planning to move back to my home country. The issue is that I have around $200,000 in debt across credit cards and loans.Once I move back, I may no longer be able to pay them back
I’m trying to understand what could realistically happen in this situation.
For example:
If I stop paying after leaving the U.S., what actions can the banks take?
Can they sue me even if I’m no longer living in the country?
Does this debt affect my brother and sister?
Does it affect my personal life in india ?
I’m not looking for judgment just trying to understand the legal and financial consequences so I can make the best decision.
Any advice or personal experience would be appreciated.
