When Should You Actually See an Infertility Specialist?

Most couples spend several months, if not years, in anticipation of going into a fertility clinic. And one of the most common comments we hear from couples is "I wish we had started sooner."

Visiting an infertility specialist doesn't necessarily mean there is something terribly wrong. It just means you are committed to your journey. If you are younger than 35 and haven't conceived within one year of conception efforts, it's your signal. Over 35? Don't delay more than 6 months. Irregular or painful periods have always been your condition? Come in even sooner. Having experienced two or more miscarriages is nothing you should try to manage by yourself. Also, if your husband was told that there might be issues with sperm, it's time to discuss that problem.

An infertility specialist doesn't start you on IVF immediately. They listen, test, examine both of you and suggest you the most obvious solution. Sometimes it's easy. Sometimes, more complicated. But you will never know until someone takes a look.
