Is my LLC a partnership?

My business partner and I recently formed an LLC together, and I thought that once the paperwork was approved, everything would simply be referred to as an LLC going forward.

Instead, I've noticed that different forms and websites use different terminology. Some ask if we're an LLC, while others refer to us as a partnership, which has made me second-guess whether I'm selecting the right option when completing business applications.

I understand that the business is legally an LLC, but it seems like the tax classification is what's causing the confusion. As someone who's new to running a business, it's hard to know when to choose "LLC" versus "partnership" without worrying that I'm filling something out incorrectly.

How do you handle situations where applications ask you to choose between an LLC and a partnership?
