Selecting the right laptop

I’m beginning my prerequisites soon and could really use some guidance! I’m leaning more towards a midrange Mac as it fits my budget of around $1000 and are known for their simplicity and long battery life, but am worried about a few key issues:

- Are there any Windows exclusive software/applications required for classes or courses down the road?

-If so, would a Windows emulator such as Parallels be sufficient to meet the needs for said requirements?

I’m aiming to snag one ASAP, I’ve heard that prices are rising rapidly and don’t want to miss out on a quality machine. Used windows for years but have always been frustrated by its lack of reliability.
