DoD Civilian PCS Overseas - TQSA and FTA Questions
Hello
Family of 3. I'm PCSing to one of Asian military posts soon.
I got the TQSA and FTA rates for my family. The daily maximum allowances for the first 30 days and then reduced rates for the next 30.
My question is can this be inter-changable? Like if our daily max is $500, can I get a hotel room for $400 and then spend $100 for the meals? Or vice versa? Get cheaper hotel like $150 and then try to spend high-end food at $350?
Will the host HR/Finance give me trouble if I try to go near max at each day? I know they said not to go overboard and I certainly wont, but the hotel we're looking at is bit high (but within the daily limit), it just leaves us with less amount for foods, which is ok for us.
I will keep all receipts and make sure I don't violate anything. I'm just trying to play this smartly and best for my family during the FTA (10 days) and TQSA (60 days).
