I refused a Pap Smear. Is it normal?
Okay, so I'm going to be super vulnerable today.
Context - I'm 34 year old, living in metro city. Unmarried, single, not in a relationship since last 9 years. Have had sex only once. That one time I was very drunk so it happened easily. Other times I tried but penetration is very painful for me. It can be vaginusmus too.
Today I had my pre employment medical checkup. Pap smear was included in the package but I refused it.
My reasons are -
-
Honestly mentally not prepared when slight insertion is painful
-
I came here alone. I'm alone in this city, none of my friends have ever talked about this. So I didnt want to go through this alone
I'm okay to get a gynecologist and consult her and get a checkup done by her separately. Didnt feel like getting it done in this lab where the lab didnt feel very modern or sophisticated.
What I want to know is- am I the only one to have refused to get checkup done at this age. Because the entire staff looked at me as if I committed a sin and make me write the reason of my refusal with my signature.
